Date: April 3, 1964 9:00PM
Location: New Glarus - Monticello
County: Green
Source: UFO Wisconsin Report by Fred R.
Details of Incident:
My friend and I were seniors in (Monroe, Wis.) high school. We had driven in my car to New
Glarus from Monroe, and were returning home. Highway 69 had just been improved, and I think we
may have been driving just to look at where the new highway ran. When we were going south from
New Glarus, just going up the hill toward New Glarus Woods, this object appeared suspended over
the highway about a mile ahead of us, at perhaps a bit above tree top level at the summit of
the hill. As I recall, it had red and yellow lights. I don't recall the exact number, but
there were several of each color. Just about the time I saw the object, and realized it was
out of the ordinary, it took off at a high rate of speed, heading southeasterly, in the
direction of Monticello. My friend and I looked at each other with amazement, and discussed
what we had seen. I checked the local media for several days, and did not hear of any other
report of the object, so my friend and I decided to not say anything. Only today, (November
9, 2003) when I saw the similar report on this web site, quite by accident, did I decide to
report what I had seen in 1964; apparently the same object as in the other report. As I
recall, the night was very clear, with stars, but no moon.
