It was a clear night in I think about 1966, I think it was in the mid to late summer or early fall. We were driving from Kewaskum to West Bend to see someone in WB hospital. I was a passenger by the front door. As we drove to WB, I watched what I thought to be a new neon sign on the West side of West Bend. I remember not thinking much about it and making a mental note to go and see what kind of business had such a huge sign. It was only visible as a half round and looked like it was sitting on the earth. It was huge however to be able to see it from the several mile distance. It as neon orange in color.

When we entered WB we decided to turn into a grocery and pick up something for the person we were visiting in the hospital. We would then have been facing I believe East towards what used to have been facing the West Bend Aluminum company. I looked up and there the thing was, huge and red orange bigger than a football field, hovering over the West Bend Company. It was crispy round, nothing foggy or dull about the edges and it had multiple round circles inside of it. I was absolutely shocked and grabbed the person in the middle of the front seat to show her, and as I did, I blinked and when I looked again, it was gone. I was totally freaked and traumatized. I felt as though the thing had telepathic intelligence somehow. How could it know the instant, the split second that I was trying to get someone's attention to share the experience? I was very shaken and babbled about it and they thought I was nuts.

Over the years I have searched and searched the net and books and not seen anything exactly like what I saw. Some of the shapes are near it, but no one has ever explained this thing like I saw it. It could have been a hologram but it was a design not a blob of light or speck in the sky, this baby was huge and bright.

I have seen ufo's since and will report them on this site for the specific years and counties. However, nothing I have seen since comes anywhere near to the experience that night driving into West Bend. I still wonder and search for the answer to what that was. I do not know. And, had I not watched the thing nonchalantly for 15 minutes prior to seeing it closer up, I would have believed that I was hallucinating. However, I know I did not. I think at that time there were other sightings in the area, and one person I told said her mother had seen something like this. One other friend said she had seen a "saucer". I do not know what it was that I saw, but whatever it was it was out of the realm of our reality as we know it. It was incredible.
