Details of Incident:
My step-father and I were fishing on Margaret Lake, south of Three Lakes,
Wisconsin when I was in High School many years ago. It had just gotten dark, and
there was no wind, so you could hear a long way in this sparsely populated area.
Our rowboat was facing East, and we both saw a large sparkling sphere rise up in
the East. The object slowly seemed to get closer, but the sparkling changed into
a less vivid white. After a minute or so we could distinguish red and green
lights, but they were not flashing in any timed or rythmic manner. We sat
perfectly still, assuming "it" was close enough to see us, so we didn't want to
draw attention to ourselves. Thus, since we weren't splashing by rowing our
boat, it was perfectly quiet. Still, this object made no noise. When it shot off
to the West, we quickly got off the lake and went inside. My mother said the TV
had gone out for a few seconds a few minutes ago. The 10:00 news reported a UFO
over Jennie Webber Lake, 10 miles o!
r so to the West. As for an explanation, we can rule out car lights. There are
no roads for many miles to the East of the lake. Also, we had fished the lake
hundreds of times, often at night, and never saw lights before or after. I've
been in the military now for twenty years, in the aviation field all the time.
I've never seen a completely silent aircraft yet (when they get close, of
course). Considering others saw something and called the news, I know my
step-father and I didn't imagine it. Swamp gas? Does swamp gas sail 10 miles
away at relatively high altitude? I wish I had an explanation.
