Details of Incident:

It was a mild, clear winter night on December 7, 1997. I had been decorating and hanging up Christmas lights outside all afternoon that led me to finish after supper that evening. Going outside that evening I happened to notice 3 lights aligned in a row in the Southwestern sky that shown like 3 stars in the distance. Knowing there is a constellation that has these stars that shine in the winter sky, I didn't think much more about it.

Admiring the beauty of my work with the Christmas lights adorning the outside of my home, I stepped back from the front of the house to take in the view. We live in the country about 7 miles Northwest of New London. My husband and son had just left by car to go around the country block to, "shine", for deer. As I stood there alone now in the front yard of my home, I looked up to see where that line of 3 stars were and noticed that they had gotten larger in size, more opaque/glowing in color, and more horizontal than in the previous angled-vertical position I had seem them in. Their position was due West now and their presence intrigued me, so I walked closer to the road to get a better view.

Looking up at the 3 round lights, they appeared to get bigger and bigger. The color became more diffuse and seemed to glow a light greenish/yellow. As the lights got closer and closer I could start to see the outline of a solid black triangular object. There was not a sound in the sky. I remember looking at my Indiglo watch and the time was 7:10 pm. Being a nurse, I have a thing about recording time and made a mental note of it. The outline of the black triangular object was enormous, maybe 200-500 feet in width as it neared closer and closer to me. My first impression watching this object was that it must be a Stelth Fighter Airplane, but it didn't make a sound. As it hovered above me I looked East down the road and saw headlights of a car coming. I remained intrigued and frozen to the spot viewing this object and had walked from the front yard to the end of the driveway now hoping that it was my family returning from their ride. As soon as I saw the signal light come on to turn into my driveway I knew I was safe. I kept an eye on the object and immediately flagged my husband down to tell him to look up. As soon as I did, the object took off to the South-South-West in a faster-than-lightning speed, towards the horizon of city lights and the winter sky without making a sound. My husband and teen-age son had a split second to glance up through the windshield of the vehicle, but did not get the chance to see it, unfortunately.

This incidence occurred almost 10 years ago and I feel blessed to have witnessed an experience or phenomenon I can't explain. I hesitated to tell anyone because I am a professional and did not want my credibility questioned or destroyed. Nor had I ever heard of a triangular shaped UFO at the time. Ever since though, I have kept my eyes to the sky, in hopes of being able to witness another episode I can't explain. Sadly to say, It hasn't occurred again, but I'll keep watching!
