Bright Fireball in the northwestern part of the sky

We were driving to Manitowoc from Sheboygan on I-43. We saw a bright fireball in the northwestern part of the sky. It left a glowing smoke trail that lasted for a couple of minutes. It was about as bright as the full moon.
