Details of Incident:
We live in Dodge County and on June 9 of this year my in-laws saw a suspicious aircraft hovering in
the eastern sky.
We have a seven minute tape of the event. We contacted a Dodge County official who then reviewed the
tape on June 10th. He first thought it was government related (part plane, part copter type). He then
called on June 11th and told us that he conferred with four of his colleagues and they came to the
conclusion that it was a kite! There wasn't enough wind to blow a tissue around that day.
I have a friend whose father lives in Mayville. He thought he saw the same thing about the same time.
We live in Beaver Dam, which is about 15 miles west/northwest of Mayville. He also saw it in the
eastern sky. I'm not sure if this guy saw the same thing, but his description is real close to what we
saw.

About 8:10 PM while watching the Avalanche hockey game, I looked out the window. I saw what I thought
was a big bird that I assumed was riding the air currents (we spend half the year in the mountains of
Colorado where birds like eagles ride the air currents). I kept glancing back and forth between the TV
and the object. Then it came to me - we don't have a bird that big around here that would be riding
the air currents.
I got up and walked to the window. It wasn't a glider. My former husband flew gliders and we also
built a small experimental plane. He had single engine, multi engine and glider ratings and also
skydived, so I have spent a lot of time around airports and in the air.
I'm still watching the Av's play hockey for the championship but I'm also getting more fascinated with
the object up by the clouds. It doesn't maneuver like it's riding the air currents.
I then went up to the loft to tell my husband to look at it and get the binoculars. I kept trying to
tell Deryl (her husband) where it was, but due to its erratic movement it was hard. I finally got the
binoculars on it. It was a dark color, but I don't think I even saw the back of it. Once, when it
moved to my right, it looked like the concord sitting on the ground, only going up. It's hard for me
to explain. The sun was not shining on it as we had a storm coming in from the weather. At times its
shape reminded me of a stealth plane.
By now one of my friends had called to say it looked like the Av's are going to win. I said we might
be ahead 3-0 but we had a whole period left. So I'm on the phone still trying to keep this thing in
sight and see what the TV is doing.
There are a couple of big dark clouds out there now that it is flying around or into. Deryl said "Oh,
I'll get the movie camera and try to film it." So I hung up the phone, got the camera, came down and
went on the deck to film.
It was hard to film the object because of its movement. Eventually it disappeared behind or into one
of the big clouds. It did not have any lights that I saw.
When we re-run the film we always see a glow around the object. We also did not see the airplane that
shows up in the upper left hand part of the screen toward the end of the film.
The object made no noise. We could hear the noise from the race track near us, and you will too on the
film. I've had a lot of thoughts on the altitude, and I think it was higher than most people
think.
We showed the tape to the Dodge County Sheriff's Department who said it was either a big kite or a
Harrier jet - big difference here!!
