I was watching tv sitting in my living room and heard a very loud jet like noise. louder than normal aircraft noise. I am always interested in aircraft flying over and this one was so loud I ran outside to investigate. At the time I was puitting an addition on the house so I had a ladder going up to the roof and I ran up it and also veiwing a very bright oarange red light very unusal for a jet. I am now veiwing from my roof and what i see is bizarre. A very bright lite moving from east to west but not in a straight line kind of evassive and about 1/2 mile behind this lite is some sort of a military jet following it like a f-16 and that is what was probably making the noise. before the lite and jet leave the horizon another military jet coming from the east heading west flys over in the same path. KI Sawyer military base which is north of us has been closed for about 10 years prior to this. When it was open we used to see alot of military aircraft doing manuvers. The next close base is in Duluth Min. The jets I seen were very easy to make out. It was still somewhat lite out with the sun already set. The lite I seen was just a lite with no shape or wings of aircraft, no blinking lites just solid intense orange/reddish ball.I am not sure of the exact date because this happened several years ago and did not know that this is reportable or not? I found your site and wanted to see if anybody has a military explanation of what these jets were chasing?
