Details of Incident:
About 2:10 am 7/13/05 I
stepped outside and noticed what appeared to be a star going 'spastic'; sort of
standing still and vibrating. (Like someone shaking a light on the end of a
stick). It was fairly low in the north-west sky, about 2:00 position. (Probably
actually located over the Rusk County area, as we're located in Price County,
just one mile east of the Rusk County Line. Since it eventually traveled north,
it may have also been over Sawyer County.) I called my wife, Susan, outside and
at first she said it was a plane, because she could see red/green lights (I
happen to be color-blind), and she went in and got the binoculars and took a
closer look. She then described it as bouncing about and hard to focus on. It
appeared to her to be green/red/blue/amber in color; said colors seemed to be
'pulsing'. She said it reminded her of a webbing or soccer ball sort of pattern.
At times it appeared to be 'roundish', but not completely round, and at other
times it appeared to be kite-shaped. For about 10 minutes it appeared to be
getting larger, so was probably traveling toward us, or in an easterly
direction. (Since we don't know how 'close' it was, we can't guess at the size,
but it originally 'seemed' to be an airplane at medium distance.) After about 10
minutes this 'thing' started moving in a northerly direction. We watched it
until about 2:45 am when it disappeared behind the tree line. Note: When I
called my wife out to see this 'thing' she'd been on the computer and after
watching it for awhile she went back in and did a 'search' to see if anything
out of the ordinary was going on in the skies at that point in time, but her
search found nothing of the sort. We'd wanted to call someone to see if they,
too, could see it, but because of the time of day we decided to call the Rusk
County Sheriff's Office. The staff person answering the phone seemed skeptical
(I'm sure this was his 'first' UFO sighting report!) but he took the information
and promised that if any of their personnel also spotted som
We attempted to 'capture' this sighting with our video camera,
but couldn't see anything through the lens.
