In about 1973 every night for several nights my young son would tell me that he was watching a UFO, and I would tell him to "go to sleep". I didn't want to see anymore UFOs as I was pretty frightened by one in about 1966. (See sighting report on this website) I was happy not to see any ufos, but my son would not go to bed this night and insisted that I come and look. I did! What I saw sent me running for binoculars which I looked through and saw a cigar shaped ship moving smoothly and slowly to the West. It was dark in color but had a bright orange band in the middle part. I watched it until it disappeared.

That night had been clear and calm and the ufo was again not like a star or a blob in the sky but it was some kind of ship. I could not ascertain the size of it from the distance I was at, but I think it was pretty big because an airplane at that distance would be tiny. My son said, "see I have been telling you the truth". I don't think we watched for it again. I didn't want to see any ufos, as they scared me prior to this sighting.

A few years later, a neighbor told our family of seeing a ship in back of our home and she said it followed her to Marshfield from Stratford. I do not know the time frame compared to our sighting, however. I never noted anything other than the original night of our sighting. Nothing ever bothered us that we are aware of!
