Editor's Note: In addition to all the UFO reports we get from Wisconsin, UFOWisconsin also
gets some reports from outside the state. When we do, we'll publish them here. Here's one that
was recently submitted from Iowa.
City: Iowa City
State: Iowa
Zip: 52245
Details: I have been reading your UFO site and saw the nice drawing of the Belleville UFO. In
1984 I saw a somewhat similar object in the daytime from the east side of Iowa City, Iowa while
walking up a sidewalk to vote along with my wife and two pre-school children. It was cylindrical
and was moving in a NE direction which would take it into your area. My first impression was
that it was a badly damaged DC-3 trying to make it to Dubuque Iowa on the only heading it could
fly. It appeared to have one wing on the far side. As it passed above me and in front of me I
could see no wing but an apparent open bay door. It was only a few hundred feet off the ground
and made a sound like grinding and banging noises as if deploying something, perhaps the wing.
I watched the craft proceed in a straight line and at the same altitude into the Northeast away
from Iowa City. I watched till it was a small speck as we continued walking up the sidewalk. I
said nothing to my other family members so as not to distract my own attention. It seemed to
pick up speed as it moved away.

"Alien abductees" provide clues to repressed, recovered memories
By Beth Potier
Gazette Staff
Susan Clancy's research has taken her into alien territory.
For the past three years, Clancy, a postdoctoral fellow in Harvard's Psychology Department, has
studied people who believe they were abducted by aliens from outer space. Her research, done in
conjunction with Professors of Psychology Richard McNally and Daniel Schacter, former associate
professor Mark Lenzenweger and Harvard Medical School professor Roger Pitman, was recently
published in the Journal of Abnormal Psychology.
Yet Clancy's interest is not in extraterrestrial beings at all.
"As far as science knows, nobody is being abducted by aliens," she stressed.
Rather, Clancy wanted to explore conditions under which people develop false memories of
traumatic events.
"One of the most bitter and volatile debates ever to occur in psychology concerns the reality
of repressed and recovered memories of traumatic events," she said.
From the very serious and plausible claims of childhood sexual abuse to the less credible ones
of alien abductions, psychologists are at odds over the idea that people can forget traumatic
events then "recover" intact memories of the trauma years later.
On the one side are clinicians, who observe that painful memories can be repressed, banished
from a trauma survivor's consciousness until they're "recovered" with the help of certain
psychotherapeutic techniques in adulthood.
Memory researchers, on the other hand, say that people don't repress traumatic events; in fact
they remember them all too clearly - sometimes they can't stop thinking about the trauma. When
people report recovered memories of traumatic events, assert these cognitive psychologists,
they are most likely creating false memories.
Intrigued by this debate, and its enormous political, legal, and social implications, Clancy
noticed something missing in previous studies when she came to pursue the Ph.D. at Harvard in
1996.
"I found it striking that despite how volatile this debate was, nobody had done any research on
the population that was at the center of the controversy: those who were reporting recovered
memories," she said.
Using standard laboratory tests of memory, Clancy initially studied women who reported
recovering memories of childhood sexual abuse, finding that they were more likely, in
laboratory tests, to create false memories than women who had always remembered childhood
sexual abuse. While her findings were interesting, they were limited: It was very difficult to
corroborate whether or not the women with recovered memories of childhood sexual abuse actually
had been sexually abused as children.
'I was so naïve'
That gap in Clancy's research on survivors of childhood sexual abuse led her into the world of
people who believe they were abducted by aliens. Comfortable in her assumption that their
experiences were false, she could test whether people who create false memories in the "real
world" are also likely to create false memories in the lab.
But finding subjects and recruiting them for her study was more challenging - and sometimes
humorous - than she could have imagined.
"Three years ago, I was so naïve. I just thought I'd put ads in newspapers asking 'have you
been abducted by aliens?'" she said.
She received hundreds of calls in response to her ads, but few of them qualified as research
subjects. Out of every 10 calls, she said, only two were from people who believed they had been
abducted by space aliens.
The other eight were from media seeking a good story, from citizens concerned that Harvard was
wasting money on bogus research, from people playing jokes on friends, and even from aliens - or
people portraying aliens - themselves. A few calls, she said, were from native Spanish speakers
who misunderstood the ad to be looking for illegal aliens who had been abducted at the border
by immigration officials.
Convincing the "legitimate" alien abductees to participate in the study was an enormous
challenge, said Clancy.
"They're very skeptical about what science is going to say about their beliefs," she said.
In the end, Clancy rounded up enough subjects for two groups of people who believed they were
abducted by aliens: one group of abductees who reported recovering memories of their experience,
and one group who had no actual memory of the abduction. This second group attributed a variety
of signs and symptoms - unexplained scars or birthmarks, waking up in strange positions,
depression, sleep disturbance, or panic at seeing a picture of an alien - to what they believed
was their own alien abduction.
Clancy also studied a group of people who said they were never abducted by aliens as a control.
Testing false memories
In the lab, Clancy used a number of standard laboratory paradigms to test memory and recall.
One test, called the Deese/Roediger-McDermott paradigm, has subjects memorize then recall a
list of semantically related words: brownie, cookie, sugar and candy, for instance. Clancy's
group of alien abductees who recovered memories of their abductions recalled the list of words
successfully. There were no global memory deficits.
In fact, said Clancy, the people who recovered memories of alien abductions were seldom
psychologically impaired. "They're normal, very nice people with no overt psychopathology," she
said.
Yet the recovered-memory abductees as a group were much more likely to falsely remember the
word sweet - not on the list, but suggested by it - than either of the other two groups. In
this laboratory test, the recovered-memory group was more prone than the other two groups to
create false memories.
And assuming, as Clancy and her colleagues did, that none of the subjects were actually
abducted by space aliens, she drew the conclusion that people who develop false memories in the
lab are also more likely to develop false memories of experiences that were suggested or
imagined.
Additional research helped explain the recovered-memory group's propensity toward false
memories of alien abductions.
Everyone in this group developed his or her belief of alien abduction after describing an
episode that is consistent with sleep paralysis, a harmless but nonetheless frightening
desychronization of sleep cycles.
"You wake up from REM [rapid eye movement] sleep but you still feel the paralysis that normally
accompanies REM sleep," said Clancy.
Occurring across cultures in approximately 15 percent of the population, sleep paralysis is
sometimes accompanied by hallucinations: a sensation of electrical tingling or levitation,
hearing buzzing noises, seeing flashing lights or shadowy figures hovering near the bed.
That her subjects attributed this sleep paralysis to alien abduction is not surprising, said
Clancy.
"There's this widely shared cultural script that helps explain these frightening sleep paralysis
experiences," she said. From "The X-Files" to movies, books, and media, this group prone to
creating false memories can choose from a wide array of sources for suggestion.
"I think these recovered memories are actually distorted memories of things they had read about
or seen," she said.
It's not about the aliens
Clancy was pleased that the Journal of Abnormal Psychology, notoriously selective about papers
it publishes, accepted this paper for its August 2002 issue with no reservations.
Collaborator Richard McNally, who was Clancy's doctoral thesis adviser, attributed the paper's
acceptance to its use of well-established experimental paradigms that produced clear-cut results
in an unusual population.
"It helps us to understand that there might be a link: People who show this elevated false
recognition effect in the laboratory may be more likely to exhibit false memories in the real
world," added collaborator Daniel Schacter.
Clancy is leaving behind the spaceships and aliens to turn her attention back to survivors of
childhood sexual abuse, where she hopes her work could have a real impact.
"Childhood sexual abuse occurs, and it's terrible," she said. "If we can understand more about
how people remember and forget traumatic events and how people can develop false memories of
traumatic events, we can help resolve the controversy over the reality of repressed and
recovered memories."

Editor's Note: As I mentioned earlier, here is Heidi's reply...
This abductee study article (shown above) was very interesting, and to me totally proves the
scientific community still doesn't have a hold on "science" which so many have blind faith in.
This article talks about repressed traumatic memories and how those that cannot recall traumatic
events immediately (repressed and later recovered memories) are more likely to create falsehoods.
This was found to be true in those who suffered from childhood abuse and alien abduction
experiences.
The alien abductees were shown to create falsehoods because when given a list of items like:
brownie, cookie, sugar...they would sometimes falsely recall a name that was not on the list
like: "sweets." This was done more than the other single control group used in this study.
So if you are told to go to the store and get some bread, milk and eggs, and came back with
bread, milk, eggs and cereal - you are more likely to not be a believable person because you
recalled a mistaken and added item? I'm sorry, but I don't see the correlation.
They also made a whole explanation about how the infamous "sleep paralysis" definition is the
key to all that believe they see shadowy figures at the foot of their bed when they cannot move.
They also explained away that the images in the media help those people fill in how these shadowy
figures look and such, conveniently leaving out the fact that people around the world are seeing
the same beings without ever seeing our shows or toys. Nor do they look to the fact that the
shows and toys came AFTER so many people came forward describing the same creatures many times
over.
I don't care where the study came from, Harvard or a 2 year tech school, when you are a student
you try anything to get the grade and/or attention (especially for a thesis). Apparently just
brushing the surface of your volunteer's background and all the research into alien abductions
doesn't go into the mix if it doesn't fit your thesis (opposing elements are always left out if
you want a thesis to be believable and accepted widely).
It was also quite apparent that this researcher was much more harsh on those who claimed to
have had alien contact, than those with recalled childhood abuse. It seems the study was more
inconclusive than anything since the closing statement says: "Childhood sexual abuse occurs,
and it's terrible," she said. "If we can understand more about how people remember and forget
traumatic events and how people can develop false memories of traumatic events, we can help
resolve the controversy over the reality of repressed and recovered memories."
What?
That can be said for those with childhood abuse, but this researcher was quick to state that
from the start she took alien abduction as not being a real occurrence. That could have been
said for recovered memories of child abuse and these "falsehood creators" in this child abuse
study group, but it was not.
It seems the abductees used in this study were smart to be reluctant to help out with this
thesis study then, as the researcher stated they were. But I'm sure the researcher was certain
to persuade them that she would be unbiased as a study should be. But obviously she had
reservations with own personal statement in not believing in taking the volunteer's word for
what happened to them with aliens but taking the child abuse people's word for their unbelievable
trauma.
If your cause is already being looked at as a definition sitting in their back pocket as simply
being "sleep paralysis" before the study even began, then the study was a joke from the start.
This is just another case of the phenomena of alien abduction getting the attention it usually
gets, just to be used as a punching bag and disregarded as a figment of millions of people's
imagination.

Editors Notes: This is the second of a two-part article. The first part was published in
the October
31, 2002 issue.
Here are some UFO quotes from researchers which may shed further light on this subject:
"A recurring theme in the abduction scenario is the delivery of detailed messages to abductees.
The messages delivered to abductees are typically done by telepathic (mind to mind) conversation....In
some cases, abductees report being shown scenes or messages on large screens within the alien
craft. These messages are usually horrific prophetic scenarios about impending cataclysmic
events on Earth and the destruction of Earth due to environmental degradation. In some cases
overt religious messages are given to abductees. These messages can include te notion that the
aliens are our creators, that they are trying to advance our evolution through these breeding
experiments, and that mankind must unify-with their assistance-into a system of global
governance and religion in order to survive the future cataclysms."
- Missler & Eastman, Alien Abductions, pp. 108-109
"I think the stage is set for the appearance of new faiths, centered on the UFO belief. To a
greater degree than all phenomena modern science is confronting, the UFO can inspire awe, the
sense of the smallness of man, and an idea of the possibility of contact with the cosmic. The
religions we have briefly surveyed began with the miraculous experiences of one person, but
to-day there are thousands for whom the belief in otherworldly contact is based on intimate
conviction, drawn from what they regard as personal contact with UFOs and their occupants."
-Jacques Vallee, Dimensions, 1989, p.192.
"Human beings are under the control of a strange force that bends them in absurd ways, forcing
them to play a role in a bizarre game of deception."
-Dr. Jacques Vallee, Messengers of
Deception, p. 20
"We are dealing with a multidimensional paraphysical phenomenon which is largely indigenous to
planet earth."
- Brad Steiger, [cited in] Blue Book Files Released in Canadian UFO Report,
Vol. 4, No. 4, 1977, p. 20
"The UFO phenomena represents a manifestation of reality that transcends our current
understanding of physics...The UFOs are physical manifestations that cannot be understood apart
from their psychic and symbolic reality. What we see in effect here is not an alien invasion.
It is a control system which acts on humans and uses humans."
-Jaques Vallee, Messengers of Deception,1977 pp.209-210
"...Further, in light of the messages given by the UFO entities, how credible is it to think
that literally thousands of genuine extraterrestrials would fly millions or billions of light
years simply to teach New Age philosophy, deny Christianity, and support the occult? Why would
they do this with the preponderance of such activity already occuring on this planet? And why
would the entities actually possess an inhabit people(as in Walk-ins and channeling)just like
demons do if they were really advanced extraterrestrials? Why would they consistently lie
about things which we know are true, and why would they purposely deceive their contacts?"
- John Ankerberg & John Weldon, The Facts on UFOs and Other Supernatural Phenomena, 1992 .p13.
"There seems to be no evidence yet that any of these craft or beings originate from outer space."
- Gordon Creighton, Official 1992 Flying Saucer Review Policy Statement
"A large part of the available UFO literature is closely linked with mysticism and the
metaphysical. It deals with subjects like mental telepathy, automatic writing and invisible
entities as well as phenomena like poltergeist [ghost] manifestation and 'possession.' Many of
the UFO reports now being published in the popular press recount alleged incidents that are
strikingly similar to demonic possession and psychic phenomena."
- Lynn E. Catoe, UFOs and Related Subjects: USGPO, 1969; prepared under AFOSR Project Order 67-0002 and 68-0003
"UFO behaviour is more akin to magic than to physics as we know it... the modern UFOnauts and
the demons of past days are probably identical."
- Dr. Pierre Guerin, FSR Vol. 25, No. 1, p. 13-14
"The UFOs do not seem to exist as tangible, manufactured objects They do not conform to the
accepted natural laws of our environment. They seem to be nothing more than transmorifications
tailoring themselves to our abilities to understand. The thousands of contacts with the
entities indicate that they are liars and put-on artist. The UFO manifestations seem to be, by
and large, merely minor variations of the age-old demonological phenomenon..."
- Dr. Pierre Guerin, FSR Vol. 25, No. 1, p.192
"Demonology is not just another crackpot-ology. It is the ancient and scholarly study of the
monsters and demons who have seemingly coexisted with man throughout history. Thousands of
books have been written on the subject, many of them authored by educated clergymen, scientist
and scholars...The manifestations and occurences described in this imposing literature are
similar, if not entirely identical, to the UFO phenomenon itself....The Devil and his demons
can, according to the literature, manifest themselves in almost any form and can physically
imitate anything from angels to horrifying monsters with glowing eyes. Strange objects and
entities materialize and dematerialize in these stories, just as the UFOs and their...occupants
appear and disappear, walk through walls, and perform other supernatural feats."
- John A. Keel, UFOs: Operation Trojan Horse,1996, p. 266
"Studies of flying saucer cults repeatedly show that they are part of a larger occult social
world."
-Stupple & McNeece, 1979 MUFON UFO Symposium Proceedings, p.49
"The 'medical examination' to which abductees are said to be subjected, often accompanied by
sadistic sexual manipulation, is reminiscient of the medieval tales of encounters with demons.
It makes no sense in a sophisticated or technical framework: any intelligent being equipped
with the scientific marvels that UFOs possess would be in a position to achieve any of these
alleged scientific objectives in a shorter time and with fewer risks."
- Dr. Jacques Vallee, Confrontations, p. 13
"The symbolic display seen by the abductees is identical to the type of initiation ritual or
astral voyage that is imbedded in the [occult] traditions of every culture...the structure of
abduction stories is identical to that of occult initiation rituals...the UFO beings of today
belong to the same class of manifestation as the [occult] entities that were described in
centuries past."

"These entities are clever enough to make Strieber think they care about him. Yet his torment
by them never ceases. Whatever his relationship to the entities, and he increasingly concludes
that their involvement with him is something 'good,' he also remains terrified of them and
uncertain as to what they are."
- John Ankerberg, The Facts on UFOs and Other Supernatural Phenomena, p. 21
"I became entirely given over to extreme dread. The fear was so powerful that it seemed to make
my personality completely evaporate...'Whitley' ceased to exist. What was left was a body and a
state of raw fear so great that it swept about me like a thick, suffocating curtain, turning
paralysis into a condition that seemed close to death...I died and a wild animal appeared in my
place."
- Whitley Strieber, Communion, p. 25-26
"Increasingly I felt as if I were entering a struggle that might even be more than life and
death. It might be a struggle for my soul, my essence, or whatever part of me might have
reference to the eternal. There are worse things than death, I suspected... so far the word
demon had never been spoken among the scientists and doctors who were working with me...Alone
at night I worried about the legendary cunning of demons ...At the very least I was going
stark, raving mad."
- Whitley Strieber, Transformation, p. 44-45
"I wondered if I might not be in the grip of demons, if they were not making me suffer for
their own purposes, or simply for their enjoyment."
- Whitley Strieber, Transformation, p. 172
"I felt an absolutely indescribable sense of menace. It was hell on earth to be there [in the
presence of the entities], and yet I couldn't move, couldn't cry out, couldn't get away. I'd
lay as still as death, suffering inner agonies. Whatever was there seemed so monstrously ugly,
so filthy and dark and sinister. Of course they were demons. They had to be. And they were here
and I couldn't get away."
- Whitley Strieber, Transformation, p. 181
"Why were my visitors so secretive, hiding themselves behind my consciousness. I could only
conclude that they were using me and did not want me to know why...What if they were dangerous?
Then I was terribly dangerous because I was playing a role in acclimatizing people to them."
-Whitley Strieber, Transformation, p. 96
"The ancient being whose secret we have kept for so long, who is about to guide us into full
consciousness and companionship with very God, is us. This is not because there are no aliens.
There are certainly aliens. But far fewer than we have imagined. Indeed, intelligent species
are extremely rare, and those with the spark of potential we possess are even more so. All
conscious species are each other. At the level of consciousness that is important, in the sense
that it is resonant in eternity, being and species are the same thing. Every being is the
entire species, and every species is the entirety of being. This is the true meaning of the
statement, 'I am the first and the last.' It is why the visitors once said to me in a time of
great distress, "why do you call on your gods? It's only us." At the time, it seemed a cruel,
even devastating thing to say, a demonic lie. But I see it now for what it really was: an
invitation for us to take our place in God--to surrender ourselves to consciousness."
- Whitley Strieber, Article "Reason for the Secrecy", Unknown Country Journal, May 7th 2002
"One of the purposes for which UFOs travel to Earth is to abduct humans to help aliens produce
other beings. It is not a program of reproduction but one of production. They are not here to
help us, they have their own agenda and we are not allowed to know it's full parameters"
-Dr. David Jacobs, Secret Life, p. 305
"Everything I learned in 20 years of research into the UFO abduction phenomenon leads me to
conclude that the aliens central purpose is not to teach us about taking better care of the
environment:instead, all the evidence points to their being here to carry out a complex
breeding experiment in which they seem to be working to create a hybrid species, a mixture of
human and alien characteristics. A careful reading of the various witnesses account suggest
that here , as in many earlier cases, reproductive issues appear far more frequently than alien
ecological concerns.
- Budd Hopkins, Witnessed, p.378
"I think we are looking at a catastrophic situation. I think we are looking at a disaster. We
are seeing a unified program here with these beings, a program of physiological exploitation by
one species of another. I know this sounds absolutely insane...we are looking at a colonization
program in some way"
- Dr. David Jacobs, NBC Confirmation Broadcast, Feb. 17/99.
"..If for the sake of argument we grant that life on Earth was seeded by ancient
extraterrestrials, then the obvious question is , Who or what created our extraterrestrial
creators? Some would argue that they were, in turn sprinkled (created) by an even more ancient
race of ET's. Well, where did they come from? An infinite regression back in time of "alien
sprinklings" will not do, because the universe is finite.."
- Missler & Eastman, Alien Encounters, p.141.
"I believe there is a machinery of mass manipulation behind the UFO phenomenon. it aims at
social and political goals by diverting attention from some human problems and by providing a
potential release for tensions caused by others. The contactees are part of that machinery.
They are helping to create a new form of belief:an expectation of actual contact among large
parts of the public..."
-Jacques Vallee, Messengers of Deception, p.20
"During Mexico City's First International UFO Congress, August 24, 1995, researcher-lecturer
John Rhodes announced that the wave of UFO activity over Mexico City (which began during the
July 11, 1991 total solar eclipse) may be related to the Reptilian 'alien' race. 'They appear
to be here in force,' he claimed, 'and they may be preparing the way for the Prophesied return
of the Feathered Serpent god of ancient Mexico ....Quetzalcoatl.' Mr. Rhodes' announcement was
received with great enthusiasm, for the Mexican people have patiently awaited for hundreds of
years for the spiritual redemption promised by their loving reptilian imaged god. According to
the Aztecs of ancient Mexico, Quetzalcoatl was a divine being that taught the primitive Aztecs
the arts, agriculture, astronomy, sciences, bloodless ritualism and how to create their famous
calendar."

20th-century global religion which will culminate in the greatest deception in the history of
mankind."
- Missler & Eastman, Alien Encounters, p.261.
"We believe that the cultural preparations (or deliberate conditioning) of the world to view
our alien visitors as powerful and highly evolved saviours makes the UFO phenomena the perfect
motif for the Antichrist (an imposter, posing as Christ) to exploit when he ascends to power.
His ability to perform supernatural signs and wonders, his comprehensive plan for the peaceful
unification of mankind and his connection to or origin from god-like alien entities will
engender the masses to follow him into the biggest deception in history."

The Path - A New Book by Whitley Streiber
09-Aug-2002
The Path is finished.after 26 years. I learned it in 1976. I first started talking about
publishing it in 1980. Now, in the year 2002, it's finally done. Writing it has made me look
back over the life I have lived, and ask myself what I have really done with my time on earth.
I've had a good marriage and raised a son. I took up the challenge of the Path in 1976 and
remained true to it. Now, when I say that it's real and it works, I can speak with the
authority of a quarter-century of using it every day of my life.
The reason that the visitors stayed in my life for nine years was the Path. Because I was
struggling to make it part of my soul, a whole spectrum of beings paid attention to me. They
were genuine teachers and they knew it. They brought their mastery to my questions, and I was
able to use what they offered to help me on my journey.
I hope that the book I have made out of this is an effective tool. Certainly, it accurately
portrays the inner working of the path it describes, and shows how to make it part of oneself.
But the path is a huge thing. It can make a big difference in a person's life because it offers
clarity where previously there has been a lot of mythology and symbolism. It's plain and simple,
and, I hope, as spiritually powerful as it is meant to be.
The reason that I want it to work fast is that we need its strength and clarity of vision very
badly right now. We cannot spend a lifetime constructing a path out of the bits and pieces that
have been left behind. Times are changing, and great storms are coming to our world, and we
need something that can give us the strength we are going to need, or at least point us in the
right direction.
I hope and trust that the Path is such an instrument. Back in 1970, I joined a group called the
Gurdjieff Foundation. I did this after reading a book called In Search of the Miraculous, by
P.D. Ouspensky. Essentially, the Gurdjieff work is about learning to use one's attention as a
tool, rather than letting it fly aimlessly from one thing to the next.
Trying to really do this was the beginning of my life's inner journey. In 1983, I left the
Gurdjieff Foundation on the theory that, if I could not do it on my own after thirteen years of
intensive effort, then perhaps I wasn't strong enough.
Two years later, I found myself face-to-face with real masters of inner work, my visitors. To
this day, I do not know who or what they were. I have learned to use my questions about them as
a source of growth. But I do know this: they were true masters. They knew the soul's journey,
and they offered themselves as guides for me on mine. Because of my understanding of the laws
of three and seven-the law of structure and octave-that I had learned in the Gurdjieff Work and
learned to internalize on the Path, I understood what was on offer, and was able to take
advantage of it.
In other words, there was real communication. I have described some of these interactions in my
books about my life with them, but I have never written about the reason they chose me, nor the
task that I was given, which was to make something in our world that would serve others the
same way the Path served me, as the foundation of real relationship with higher beings.
I might add, here, that I am sure that I will get letters from people warning me that I must
have been in "contact" with demons. I was not. The visitors I knew were good beyond the
frontiers of goodness. They knew what my soul needed, and they were wise enough not to offer it
to me, but to create conditions under which I could grasp it of my own free will, if I had the
strength and the courage. In short, they were wise enough and brave enough to trust this
confused, frightened and lesser creature to bear the weight of his own search without either
going mad or seizing on some clever, empty answer.
When I went to meet them, it was always in the dark of the night. But the meetings flooded my
search with light. I have written the Path so that others might attract their attention in the
same way, by revealing useful need to them.
I see the way the world is going very clearly, and I can predict the future. There are many
abuses taking place now that are going to come back to haunt us. Among other things, our failure
to address issues of environmental decline in a clear-headed and productive way, our
indiscriminate unleashing of rogue genes into our own food supply, and our inability to resolve
so many of our conflicts will combine with ongoing and developing natural changes to throw our
world into chaos. This will happen. It is absolutely inevitable.
A great part of the reason that I have written the Path is to provide users of the book with an
inner anchor that will stand the test of chaos, that will enable them to keep feeding their
souls even in the very worst of times. The sublime part of it, though, is, if we manage to
reach instead toward the heaven on earth that science seems to be putting within our grasp, the
Path will become, then also, a foundation for inner work that will offer real growth, no matter
the times in which the traveler finds himself.
It's so amazing to have finished it. For all these years, I have been challenged by a question:
will I ever be able to accomplish this? What if I die before I'm ready, or if I'm never ready?
Then why have I lived?
I have lived, in great part, because of this. And now it exists. It's real. So many, many times
over the past 26 years, I have said to myself, 'you'll never write it, you'll never learn how.'
But I did learn how, and now it exists. I can hardly believe it. I am so glad.
This, incidentally, is my 100th entry in this journal. That's a coincidence--I suppose.

Some verses in the Bible about the coming Antichrist:
MATTHEW 24
23 Then if any man shall say unto you, Lo, here is Christ, or there; believe it not. 24 For
there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders;
insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect. 25 Behold, I have told
you before. 26 Wherefore if they shall say unto you, Behold, he is in the desert; go not forth:
behold, he is in the secret chambers; believe it not.
2 THESSALONIANS 2
Now we beseech you, brethren, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by our gathering
together unto him, 2 That ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor
by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand. 3 Let no man deceive
you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that
man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition; 4 Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all
that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God,
shewing himself that he is God. 5 Remember ye not, that, when I was yet with you, I told you
these things? 6 And now ye know what withholdeth that he might be revealed in his time. 7 For
the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth will let, until he be taken
out of the way. 8 And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the
spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming: 9 Even him, whose
coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders, 10 And with
all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love
of the truth, that they might be saved.
REVELATION 13
And I stood upon the sand of the sea, and saw a beast rise up out of the sea, having seven
heads and ten horns, and upon his horns ten crowns, and upon his heads the name of blasphemy.
2 And the beast which I saw was like unto a leopard, and his feet were as the feet of a bear,
and his mouth as the mouth of a lion: and the dragon gave him his power, and his seat, and
great authority. 3 And I saw one of his heads as it were wounded to death; and his deadly wound
was healed: and all the world wondered after the beast. 4 And they worshipped the dragon which
gave power unto the beast: and they worshipped the beast, saying, Who is like unto the beast?
who is able to make war with him?
5 And there was given unto him a mouth speaking great things and blasphemies; and power was
given unto him to continue forty and two months. 6 And he opened his mouth in blasphemy against
God, to blaspheme his name, and his tabernacle, and them that dwell in heaven. 7 And it was
given unto him to make war with the saints, and to overcome them: and power was given him over
all kindreds, and tongues, and nations. 8 And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him,
whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the
world. 9 If any man have an ear, let him hear. 10 He that leadeth into captivity shall go into
captivity: he that killeth with the sword must be killed with the sword. Here is the patience
and the faith of the saints.
11 And I beheld another beast coming up out of the earth; and he had two horns like a lamb, and
he spake as a dragon. 12 And he exerciseth all the power of the first beast before him, and
causeth the earth and them which dwell therein to worship the first beast, whose deadly wound
was healed. 13 And he doeth great wonders, so that he maketh fire come down from heaven on the
earth in the sight of men, 14 And deceiveth them that dwell on the earth by the means of those
miracles which he had power to do in the sight of the beast; saying to them that dwell on the
earth, that they should make an image to the beast, which had the wound by a sword, and did
live. 15 And he had power to give life unto the image of the beast, that the image of the beast
should both speak, and cause that as many as would not worship the image of the beast should be
killed.
16 And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to
receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads: 17 And that no man might buy or
sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name. 18 Here
is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number
of a man; and his number is Six hundred threescore and six. (666)

Editor's Note: In Pancake Perspectives
Issue 10 we
printed a story submitted by Mary Sutherland entitled "The Seven Clans Of Mars." Mary Sutherland
has also posted this story on
her site with a 2002 copyright to herself, but if the following information is true, we admittedly got
duped and the story has actually been around for quite some time. Check out the links in this
article and you decide the story's true origin...
Elaine writes:
I did not, personally, write it but it is from my site and I've been in possession of it, in
one way or another since 1998. I believe it to be true along with a couple of other items I
received during the same time period.
After NASA posted the 1998 MGS photos of the 'face', I received several anonymous communications
over a the next year and a half, one of which was the 'story'. It was sent in three separate
parts at different times with 'More to follow...' at the end of each section.
When I first started receiving these communications I didn't have a webpage so I used to send
the items to Kent Steadman @ CyberSpace Orbit to post on his site, for me. [Kent called it 'The
Ancient Saga'] When I started my own page, I based it on these communications. The URLs for
these three are:
The Clues - http://www.marsearthconnection.com/clues.html
The Email - http://www.marsearthconnection.com/email.html
The Story- http://www.marsearthconnection.com/story.html
I don't mind people using things from my pages because the purpose of my site is to get
information out and maybe get corroboration on some things but if they do use items I would
expect them to, at least, cite the URL or link back to my page rather than claim them as their
own.
I'm not familiar with Mary Sutherland, or why she would claim this as her own since a lot of
people who have webpages in, or frequent, the UFO/Mars areas of the internet are aware it's
from my pages. I know this because I've taken a lot of heat from them, over the years, for
posting these items anonymously and without explanation.
Early Article Dates
Kent and I found a couple of early links to the 'story', in his archives. The following date is
the first time we could find which cites the 'story'. This is one month after the April '98 MGS
photos came out.
Date: Tue, 12 May 1998
http://dev.null.org/psychoceramics/archives/1998.05/msg00017.html
We found another reference to it in Kent's 1999 archives:
May 6, 1999

As I said, earlier, I didn't have my own site in 1998 but I did have the 'story' and I sent it to Kent Steadman to post on ORBIT
